GORILLA - Gorilla gorilla

13x18cm, A4, 50x70cm

The second closest relatives of humans, sharing up to 99% or our DNA. Gorillas move about the dense forests in family-groups led by one male, the dominant silverback. Albeit portrayed in films as the species to rule Earth after human extinction, it is the other way around. As an example, the subspecies Cross River gorilla is the world’s rarest great ape, with a population of only about 250 individuals. Their impressive size and mighty look is a mask for their vegetarian diet and gentle and humble behaviour.
